Certified Translation
Our qualified, registered Chartered Linguists provide certified translation service for individuals whose document in Chinese is required for use by the UK’s public sector, government agencies or for businesses in the UK.
Who needs certified translation?
According to the UK Government’s official guideline:
“Where a document written in a foreign language is submitted in support of [an] application it should be submitted with an English translation attached. It should be provided by a translator registered with an official organisation such as the Chartered Institute of Linguists”
Translations certified by our accredited translators are recognised and accepted by the Home Office, the HM Passport Office, National Health Service (NHS), and most public authorities, companies, banks, and schools and universities in the UK; as well as most government and public service agencies, businesses, organisations, and universities in countries and territories where English is an official language.
General requirements
As per government guidance, the translation document is accompanied by a certificate with the following information:
- The translation is “a true and accurate translation of the original document”
- The date of the translation
- The name and contact details of our qualified translator
We will also prepare a PDF file for you to submit as supporting document online, which includes the following three components: i) Original Document, ii) Translation, and iii) Translation Certificate.
Unlike many other European countries, the UK does not have a system of “sworn” or “certified” translators accredited by a particular body. Where possible, you should check with the organisation requesting a certified translation exactly what its requirements are.
